HISTORY

Our location is steeped in Melbourne tradition, the former Read's Store on Chapel Street and Malvern Road. Built in 1915, it was one of Melbourne's largest department stores; our building holds significant historical and social importance.

Architecturally, it is one of the few buildings to display the influence of the English Baroque Revival. Notable elements include the oval & circular windows, the overall rustication, ribbed green painted domes and an elaborate verandah showcasing Baroque architectural style. Corinthian columns and twin domed towers are not only unique but showcase the neo-classical revival of the 1910s and 20s, giving the building great prominence and providing landmarks that can be seen from great distances. Since 1910, Chapel Street has been the major shopping destination outside the CBD.

In 2006 Precision Group purchased the high-profile Pran Central retail complex.

Now is your chance to be part of history!
