iSelelct Launches Pioneering Brick and Mortar Store at Pran Central
27 Nov 2017
ISELECT WILL UNVEIL ONE OF ITS VERY FIRST BRICKS AND MORTAR STORES AT PRAN CENTRAL SHOPPING CENTRE IN DECEMBER, LAUNCHING AN INNOVATIVE STRATEGY TO EXPAND ITS ONLINE OFFERING THROUGH AN OMNICHANNEL RETAIL EXPERIENCE WHICH WILL SEE KIOSKS ROLLED OUT IN SHOPPING MALLS ACROSS AUSTRALIA.
The 26 sqm open-plan kiosk in the heart of Prahran will become an interactive destination where customers are encouraged to interact with iSelect's staff, while learning more about NBN speeds, energy bills and rising insurance premiums.
With online comparison iPads provided, customers will also be able to 'self-serve', use the complimentary wi-fi or browse the range of Nest connected home products.
The country's largest online financial comparison service, iSelect's new physical retail model was launched as part of its strategy to become Australia’s Life Admin Store™. Covering all of life's essentials – from selecting the right health or life insurance policy through to refinancing a home loan – iSelect helps consumers to choose and purchase from hundreds of available policies, products and plans, with the advice provided at no cost to the customer.
Engaging pop-up style kiosks will be installed at four Precision Group shopping centres, including MacArthur Central in Brisbane, Pran Central in Melbourne, Adelaide Central Plaza, and Chevron Renaissance – which will host iSelect's only Gold Coast store.
iSelect managing director and CEO Scott Wilson said the new Pran Central store was part of the company’s vision to become Australia's "Life Admin Destination", where customers can seek advice on some of life's most important decisions.
"We know Australians want expert guidance and help in managing these boring but necessary part of their lives and we see our new kiosks another convenient way to offer our services and assistance," Mr Wilson said.
"We are following an overseas trend where leading digital players like YouTube and Amazon are supplementing their online presence with kiosks and pop-ups.
"The kiosk will provide an opportunity to educate our customers with information like NBN speed comparisons, health insurance premium rises and the latest interest rate data."
Pran Central centre manager John Gilbert said the opening of iSelect would add another dimension to the Centre's ever-evolving offering, which comprises three levels of retail space, over 40 specialty stores and a 250 seat food court.
"We are delighted iSelect has partnered with the Precision Group to roll out this Australian-first concept, which will see Pran Central become the home of one of its very first bricks and mortar stores,” Mr Gilbert said.
"The Precision Group is committed to investing in its centres and their communities by continuing to diversify the retail mix, and through this dynamic partnership iSelect will provide the Prahran community and visitors with a convenient way to access their services for many people who prefer face-to-face interaction to online.
"For decades now, there has been speculation on the impact of the growth in online services on traditional retail, yet this launch is a fine example of the continued relevance of bricks and mortar retail and indeed the special place our shopping centres hold in the social fabric of Australian communities, and we are thrilled to welcome iSelect into that fold.
"Organising your insurance, utilities and personal finance is one of those important tasks in life which people tend to put off, but it is a task that just became that bit easier and more enjoyable with the opening of iSelect’s kiosk, right in the heart of Pran Central."
The company will occupy a 26 sq m kiosk site within the Food Court precinct under a 5-year lease agreement.
